Buffalo groove rockers Aqueous have officially announced their plans to ring in the New Year at home via a clever This is Spinal Tap remake video. The quartet announced that they would be returning to the Town Ballroom stage during the Night Light Music Festival this past August, however released full details including VIP package options through social media outlets today.

Aqueous sold out their 2017 headlining debut at the Town Ballroom and will return to the venue on Dec. 31 for a one-night engagement with special guest lespecial.

Aqueous guitarist Mike Gantzer told NYS Music that the band is beyond excited to return to the venue. “Anyone that was at last year’s NYE show at Town Ballroom can attest to how much crazy energy and love was in the room, it was insane,” he told NYS Music. “We were so stoked that we knew we had to do it again! We’ve got some really cool things planned for our beloved Buffalo fans this year, and having lespecial on as support is gonna make for one hell of a party!”

The New York and Boston-based rock power trio, lespecial, has a unqiue soundscape that will blend elements of contemporary rock music, hip-hop, metal, progressive rock, indie-rock and apocalyptic dub.

lespecial bassist Luke Bemand told NYS music that they are honored to be joining the band. “Aqueous has been having a well deserved huge year, and we’re really stoked to be joining them in their hometown for NYE. We’ve already been cooking up some ideas for collabs,” he noted “It’s gunna get raunchy.”

As part of the recently announced VIP package available, Aqueous will be hosting a private VIP show on Dec. 30 at Nietzsche’s, a smaller and more intimate venue. Aqueous played their first show at the beloved Buffalo venue in 2009. The VIP evening will mark the band’s first show in the room since 2014. The VIP show will not only be a return for some of the band’s fans, but a ride in the Aqueous time machine for newer fans.

“Aqueous has a deep rooted history in that room,” Gantzer reflected. “It’s really where we ‘cut our teeth’ as a band, and we have such a sentimental feeling for the intimate, yet raging experiences we used to share with AQ fans there! We’re really excited to tap into that history and give our hometown fans an opportunity to get down with us in such an intimate setting one more time.”

The This is Spinal Tap homage video isn’t the first for the band. They announced details of their fall tour this past summer via a Wayne’s World remake video.

The NYE show will be the end cap to a 30 city fall tour that will take the band up and down the eastern seaboard and as far west as Colorado. Aqueous will support Umphrey’s McGee in Minnesota this fall. The band kicks of their Fall tour on Oct. 24 in Hamden, CT.

While Gantzer isn’t giving away any special details for the weekend, he does advise fans to get tickets, especially for the VIP experience sooner rather than later. “All I can say is grab tickets now, you’re definitely not gonna want to miss this.”
