Eric Tessmer Band Brings Southern Soul to Saranac Thursday

Austin, Texas, known as the “Live Music Capital of the World”, offers free music nightly at more than 100 venues across the city. Home to both SXSW and Austin City Limits Music Festivals, Austin has a magnetic pull drawing in some of the most talented musicians in the world, as they flock to play and collaborate together in this musical mecca. Drawn from his home state of Wisconsin at the age of 19, Eric Tessmer found himself a home in Austin as he honed his craft and developed his soulful sound on his ’59 Fender Stratocaster. In that time since he arrived, he has formed the Eric Tessmer Band and developed what he has coined a ‘blues-rock soul-chedelic’ sound.

As they make their way across the nation and down to Hunter Mountain for Mountain Jam this weekend, they took a deter to join us here in Central NY at Saranac Thursday.  As the temperatures dropped on the crowd on the overcast evening, they quickly were warmed up with the hot bluesy rock of “See You Tonight” and soulful sexy jazzy blues of “Reconsider Baby.”

As concert goers enjoyed can jam, Jenga, some great ales, lagers, stouts, and IPA’s at Saranac Thursday, I can attest that all enjoyed the great music of our special guests from Austin, Texas, hoping that they once again make this a stop in our neck of the woods on their way through New York.

Check out Eric’s upcoming shows as they perform this Sunday at noon at Mountain Jam in Hunter, NY, and next Monday the 18th at Syracuse’s King of Clubs, 406 South Clinton Street.
