Melvin Seals and JGB @ JCC Hart Theater
Jerry Garcia’s legacy lives on infinitely. For the most part, it’s his time in the Grateful Dead that is honored. But Melvin Seals, the longtime organ player in his other outfit, the Jerry Garcia Band, has been the “keeper of the flame” for JGB’s music. They return to the JCC’s Hart Theater for another intimate evening of mellow exhilarating grooves. Proceeds from the show will go toward scholarships for children to attend Camp Seneca Lake. Win win!

Too Many Zooz @ Montage Music Hall
Just around the time that the lineup for this year’s edition of the Xerox International Jazz Festival should be getting announced, Montage Music Hall, one of the festival’s club venues, will host a show that would garner plenty of buzz if it were held during during the fest. Too Many Zooz, a trio consisting of sax, trumpet and percussion, got their start underground. Quite literally, they began busking in the NYC subways. A mix of brass band, funk, hip hop, this show will be a blast for both audience and band.
Marty O’Reilly and the Old School Orchestra @ Good Luck
Honest Folk continues a strong start to their 2018 season with Marty O’Reilly and the Old School Orchestra. A quartet out of California, O’Reilly has a weathered folk-ready voice reminiscent of Ray Lamontagne. His 3-part “orchestra” joins him with an intricately woven backing that brings the work of Andrew Bird to mind. They’re touring behind their fabulous just-released record, Stereoscope. Good Luck will be flush with some fresh-sounding Americana, don’t miss it!

Hayley Jane and the Primates @ Funk n Waffles
Hayley Jane is starting to make waves on the live music scene, it might not be long before we’ll be seeing her from much bigger stages. And with good reason, she boasts a soulful rock voice and commands the stage with a infectiously quirky energy. Like Jane, the music is quirky, infectious, and soulfully rocking, and once the interpretive dancers take over the stage all bets are off. You’ve never seen anything quite like it!

A Girl Named Genny @ Three Heads Brewing
Three Heads Brewing has always been a champion of the local music scene, even more so since they opened their own tasting room. In 2018 they’re taking it to the next level, with the Rochester Residency. Each month a select musician owns the stage every Thursday night of the month. This month’s resident is violist Zac Lijewski. So far each resident has spent one of their nights recreating a classic album and this month is no different. Lijewski will close out his residency with his band A Girl Named Genny covering CSNY’s So Far. The other nights will be: The Honey Smugglers on March 8th; Zac Lijewski’s Love In on March 15th and Big Jazz Small Band on March 22nd.
