American blues guitarist Joe Bonamassa will be visiting the queen city this Friday, November 18 with a very special evening at one of the oldest theatres in New York, Shea’s Performing Arts Center. Bonamassa is no stranger to the legendary venue as it has served as a backdrop for quite a few shows in the past. There aren’t a whole lot of rock concerts at the theatre but when it does open its doors, it’s for a good reason. Joe Bonamassa holds a very special place for our magazine as he is originally from New Hartford, NY. As we celebrate local music with our vision he stands at the very top of the great musicians the great state of New York has produced.
It all started when he was a young boy, at age 12 opening for the incredibly talented and legendary B.B. King. Bonamassa has put out 15 solo albums since then and 11 of them hit #1 on the blues billboard charts. He has played with so many different great guitarists including the likes of Eric Clapton, Buddy Guy, Warren Haynes, Derek Trucks and so many more. This is truly a special night and you will not want to miss out on Joe Bonamassa.
Tickets, which are very limited can be purchased through Ticketmaster, ranging between $79-125. The show starts at 8pm.
Another of Bonamassa’s greatest accomplishments is his non-profit organization, Keeping the Blues Alive foundation. This foundation fuels the passion for music by funding programs and scholarships for students and teachers who possess the desire, but lack the resources or access to achieve their potential within the music industry. Weekly donations are set up and with sponsors like Ernie ball Strings, Guitar Center and many music fans alike. The organization continues to instill music into the education system.
