The Heavy Pets with The Magic Beans deliver one-two punch in Albany

On Saturday, April 16, Albany was treated to an evening of jams from The Magic Beans and The Heavy Pets at the Hollow Bar and Kitchen.Conor McMahon-The Heavy Pets-2

The Magic Beans opened the evening with some seriously strong music to help fans get down. Bassist Chris Duffy, formerly of Albany’s own Dirty Paris before the band split, said the homecoming show was something he had been looking forward to for a while and expressed interest in returning. The “space funk” quad hailing from Colorado welcomed Heavy Pets guitarist Jeff Lloyd for a rendition of ZZ Top’s “Cheap Sunglasses” to close out their set.

The Heavy Pets, from south Florida, are no strangers to Albany either and we’re thankful for that. Their set was straight fire. The highlight of their set was a cover of “Let’s Dance” by the late and great David Bowie. Their sound ranged from jam to reggae with hints of funk sprinkled in.

Re-live some of the magic here…
