In rare and intimate solo performances, Ivan Neville will perform his “Piano Sessions” March 4 to 6, with two performances each night. Attendees can expect songs from his solo albums, rare covers and traditional New Orleans music. He will be accompanied by two bassists, Tony Hall and Nick Daniels, and drummer Raymond Weber. All six shows will be filmed using Blue Note’s “Virtual Reality” technology.

Neville is the New Orleans-born son of Neville Brothers founder Aaron Neville. His own band, Dumpstaphunk, formed in 2003, has become one of the foremost leaders of the New Orleans funk genre. He contributed vocals and keyboards to two Rolling Stones albums and was a member of Keith Richards’ solo band, the X-Pensive Winos. He was also a member of Bonnie Raitt’s band in the mid ’80s. He has performed and/or recorded with Don Henley, Robbie Robertson, the Spin Doctors, Warren Haynes, Trombone Shorty and George Porter Jr.

The shows take place at 8 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. each night at Blue Note. Tickets are available for $35. Neville will appear live in-studio at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 4 on SiriusXM’s JamOn to preview the shows.
