Move Music Festival Seeks 2016 Artists

Indie rock music festival Move has officially launched its fifth annual search for musicians to play during the 2016 event.

Move will kick off in Albany for a three-day weekend April 22 through 24, offering festivalgoers the chance to see 100 bands at 10 venues across the Capital City. This year’s locations include Stout, The Hollow, McGeary’s, City Beer Hall, Fuze Box, Madison Theatre, Parish Public House and Blue 82.

In addition to the festival giving selected artists excellent exposure (3,000 to 5,000 attendees are expected), Move also holds educational roundtable panels with industry representatives, label heads and the like on hand to provide musicians with career-advancing advice and insight into the music business. Past professionals have featured Bob Tulipan (PIL; Psychedelic Furs), Dave Novik (Decca) and Joe Blaney (producer).

Since its first installment Move, an Indian Lodge Music Group and Avid Entertainment production, has showcased more than 400 bands, including headliners such as the Wombats and Paranoid Social Club and local acts like Olivia Quillio, The City Never Sleeps, Party Boat and Around the World and Back.

With an overall concept similar to Austin’s South by Southwest festival, Move will also host its Music Video Awards on April 26 at Madison Theatre, and the evening will feature special performances by Steve Candlen, Erin Harkes and The Sea The Sea.

Tickets will go on sale soon according to the festival’s website; the $25 general admission ticket grants access to all venues via wristbands. Artist submissions are free and can be entered by contacting the festival at MoveMusicFestivalSubmissions@Gmail.com or social media.
