Enter the Haggis Returns to Their Roots and Celebrates With New Release

A little over a year ago, one of our favorite Celtic bands, Enter The Haggis, decided to move forward with their music by adopting a new name more in tune with their new sound. Many tried and true fans were flabbergasted at this change and just could not comprehend the reasoning behind this new makeover. However, as time wore on, the music remained the same to we “Haggis Heads” and no matter what they called themselves, we were with them 100 percent.Enter The Haggis IMG_3328-2

Fast forward one year and we find that our friends Brian, Trevor, Craig, Mark, and Bruce are returning to their roots. In celebration of their anniversary together for more than 20 years, they have recently released a new album, Cheers and Echoes, which included favorites from over the years and even a new track. When getting back to recording, they found themselves gravitating back to their Celtic roots, so they decided to return to their old name. Releasing the following statement on their site, the lads explained in detail why they decided to once again become Enter The Haggis, to much celebration of Haggis Heads around the world. They wrote:

New music, new swag and an old name…

In 2015 we celebrated 20 YEARS (!!!) as a band and in honour of the milestone we’ve dug back through the archives and hand-selected 22 tracks, cherry picking from our 8 studio albums, unreleased live recordings, our “Penny Red” vinyl and even a brand new song called “Mrs. Elliott”. The two disc package is called “Cheers and Echoes” and includes a huge, 16 page booklet with reflections from band members (past and present) about every album we’ve done. Cheers and Echoes is available starting Nov. 5th at www.enterthehaggis.com or at the merch table at our shows.

After taking a step back and putting together a track list, it became clear to us that we wrote the vast majority of these songs as Enter The Haggis so it would be most appropriate to release it under that name. Furthermore, our new song Mrs. Elliott REEKS of our classic ETH sound; Highland bagpipes, cool vocal harmonies and a rocking rhythm section; nuff said.

Over the years we’ve followed our muse wherever it’s taken us, and you guys have been incredibly patient, trusting and supportive. The last couple of years we found the music we were writing had drifted away from our Celtic influences – now, listening to the new songs we’re working on, it would seem we’re drifting back again. We’ve heard from many of you over the years how much the Celtic side of what we do resonates, and we can definitely feel that reaction at our performances so we truly hope that you enjoy the new stuff.

We’ve also heard from many of you that you REALLY LIKED the name Enter The Haggis and that you will always consider yourself a Haggis Head no matter what we call ourselves. So – take a deep breath – with all of these things in mind we’ve decided to go back (no, forward!) to the name Enter The Haggis. Somehow we think a name change will be less traumatic this time for all concerned. 🙂

Now – we know we’re giving you all whiplash. All we can say is that we pride ourselves on making decisions based on our hearts first, and doing what we feel is right for the music we create. “Penny Black” (which we’re extremely proud of) wasn’t an Enter The Haggis album. We suspect the next one, however, will be. And we’re excited.

There will be an adjustment period during which we’ll figure out how to handle all the various social profiles and websites, so bear with us through the (re)construction. If you first heard about the band while we were Jubilee Riots we encourage you to join us on our ETH Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/enterthehaggis – welcome to the Haggis Head family!

In light of our new retrospective, we’ve been going through our back catalogue and dusting off some old material – some of which we haven’t played in six or seven years. Expect some surprises on the upcoming November tour. We don’t know exactly when the first official Re-Enter The Haggis show will be but we’ll be sure to let you know when we do. In the meantime, if you need your Enter The Haggis fix we have a cool new 20th anniversary t-shirt, hoodie, stickers and, of course, the retrospective album, all available at www.enterthehaggis.com.

We can’t thank you enough for all of your support and hope to see you at a show in the near future!

As always, feel free to drop us a line (any of our names @enterthehaggis.com).

Your friends,

Enter The Haggis (Craig, Brian, Bruce, Mark and Trevor)
