Phil Collins to Return to Music

Rejoice easy lovers! Against all odds, fans of epic-solo-hit maker and previous Genesis “head-banger” Phil Collins will get at least “One More Night” with the dashing 64-year-old drummer/vocalist as he rejoins the music world.

Collins unexpectedly revealed in a Rolling Stone “My Life in 15 Songs” interview his return:

“I’m no longer officially retired, the horse is out of the stable and I’m raring to go.”

Collins, citing health reasons and a desire to for more family time, mostly retired from the business in 2011. The first hint that something was coming in the air came in 2013 in a German media interview that indicated “Everything was possible” — even touring with Genesis. Early 2014 revealed that Collins was working on compositions with the sultry R&B singer Adele, and later that year he performed two songs with young student musicians at the Miami Country Day School.

Collins achieved fame joining classic rock supergroup Genesis as drummer in 1970 before assuming lead vocal duties in 1975. His solo career launched in 1981 and led to more than a decade of hits, Grammy awards, and an eventual departure from Genesis in 1991. He is also a member of the Modern Drummer Hall of Fame.

Groundwork is currently underway for a tour, and Collins has built a studio in his Miami home to work on new material. Stay tuned: One more day in paradise awaits!
