Ice Cube announces new Dr Dre album

After 16 years the wait may finally be over for Dr Dre fans as it has been announced that Dre will be releasing a new album.

Former NWA member, Ice Cube, announced on Wednesday that Dre was working on the soundtrack to the upcoming NWA biopic, Straight Outta Compton. Although Dr. Dre had told Rolling Stone in March that he was working on something new, he is not expected to announce the album until Saturday on his Beats 1 radio show, The Pharmacy.

Without releasing an album in over a decade Dre has remained significant in the music community through producing and his collaborations. The new album is rumored to have musical guests such as Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, and a possible NWA reunion. The album will contain all new music entirely produced by Dre. It has been speculated that some of the tracks could be from his famously postponed album Detox. Collaborators have said the rapper is distancing himself from the 2001 follow up because of songs leaked in 2009.

Straight Outta Compton will be released August 14. However the release date of the album is still unclear.
