On September 19, Staind brought their Break the Cycle 25th Anniversary Tour to the Darien Lake Performing Arts Center, giving fans a night packed with some of the biggest names in early-2000s rock. Joining Staind for the sold-out evening were Hinder, Hoobastank, and Seether.

With beautiful weather surrounding Darien Lake, fans packed the venue early, ready for a night of nostalgia, heavy guitars, and plenty of familiar songs.

Hinder

Kicking off the night was Hinder, who wasted no time getting the crowd moving with “All American Nightmare.” The band continued with “Homecoming Queen,” “Without You,” and “Live Without It” before reaching one of the biggest sing-along moments of their set with “Lips of an Angel.”

Hinder kept the energy high with “Bring Me Back to Life” before closing their 35-minute set with “Get Stoned.” Their short set gave the crowd a taste of the night ahead while bringing several of Hinder’s most recognizable songs to the stage.

Hoobastank

Next up was Hoobastank. As the band took the stage, there was a special guest joining them for the evening: bassist Jesse Charland’s daughter, who came out with her own little guitar.

The band opened with “Just One” before moving through “Born to Lead,” “Running Away,” and “Same Direction.” The crowd continued singing along as Hoobastank worked through “This Is Gonna Hurt,” “Out of Control,” and “How Do You Sleep.”

Before launching into one of their biggest songs, singer Doug Robb gave a shout-out to local musician Tim from Tim The Truth. Tim had recently shared a social media post featuring himself at a young age dancing to Hoobastank’s music and talking about finally getting the chance to see the band live.

That moment made the performance feel particularly personal for the local crowd. Hoobastank then launched into “The Reason,” giving the audience one of the night’s biggest sing-alongs, before closing with “Crawling in the Dark.”

Seether

As the sun continued to disappear over Darien Lake, Seether took the stage. Before the band even appeared, two massive guitar rigs positioned behind the stage gave the crowd a preview of the heavier performance that was about to begin.

Seether opened with “Pride,” immediately bringing a darker edge to the evening. The band continued with “Lost All Control” and “Rise Above This,” followed by “Driven Under” and “No Jesus Christ.”

The set continued with “Let You Down” and “Country Song” before the band delivered “Fine Again,” one of the more recognizable songs from their catalog. Seether then pushed toward the finish with “Dangerous” and “Fake It,” ending the set with “Remedy.”

Staind

Finally, it was time for the band everyone had been waiting for. At 9:40 p.m., Staind took the stage for their Break the Cycle 25th Anniversary Tour set.

The band opened with “Open Your Eyes,” immediately setting the tone for a set centered heavily around the Break the Cycle era. “Warm Safe Place” and “Fade” followed before Staind moved into “Raining Again” and “Everything Changes.”

The emotional side of the band’s catalog came through strongly as the night continued. “Take It,” “Right Here,” and “Something to Remind You” gave the crowd moments to simply take in the music, while “Suffer” and “Pressure” brought the intensity back up.

Staind then moved into “So Far Away,” followed by “Outside” and “For You.” As the night reached its final stretch, the crowd erupted for “It’s Been Awhile,” one of Staind’s most recognizable songs and a track that has remained a staple of the band’s live performances.

The band closed the night with “Mudshovel,” bringing the evening full circle with a song from the band’s 1996 debut album Tormented.

With Hinder, Hoobastank, Seether, and Staind all sharing the same stage, the sold-out Darien Lake crowd was treated to a night that celebrated a defining era of rock music. From Hinder’s “Lips of an Angel” and Hoobastank’s “The Reason” to Seether’s “Fine Again” and Staind’s Break the Cycle classics, the night offered plenty of opportunities for fans to sing along to songs that have remained part of the rock soundtrack for more than two decades.
