After a seven-year hiatus, the Hudson Valley Music Summit is returning to the Chappaqua Performing Arts Center on November 21. The day-long event will run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., focused on navigating the music industry today with over 30 industry professional speakers.
Conversations with industry professionals about topics like the reimagining of the record-label relationship, what developing artists need to know before touring, music rights, royalties and technology with the rise of AI, and more fill the day.
Hudson Valley musicians Alex Cano and Dan Zlotnick will close the event with the Hudson Valley Music Showcase, highlighting local talent in the region. Additional artists have yet to be announced.
The Hudson Valley Music Summit began in 2019, started by producer and musician David Hoffman. The debut had over 200 attendees with appearances from Dennis Dunaway of the original Alice Cooper band and Michelle Shocked, The Levins, The Foxfires and more performed.
Hoffman combined his knowledge as a conference producer and an indie musician to create the Summit. Hoffman published a book, “Producing Success: A Career Guide for Conference Producers Known,” in 2015, outlining what he learned from his experience as a conference producer. Known by the name Daddy Singray, Hoffman released two EPs, Sweet Talkin’ Symphony in 2017 and A Fun Happy Place in 2018.
In 2020, Hoffman expanded the original event to the Hudson Valley Music Video Film Festival. Covid halted any future plans for the Summit — until now.
“Seven years is sort of the right time for a band to have a reunion tour, after all, isn’t it?” Hoffman said. “In 2019, there was a real sense of regional camaraderie, with a high-caliber group of practitioners offering guidance to each other and the next generation. That’s the spirit we’re looking to recapture in 2026, bringing that community back together to navigate a music business that looks very different than it did seven years ago.”
