The Schenectady-Saratoga Symphony Orchestra will bring its 2025–26 season to a close with “Poetic Echoes,” a program celebrating the intersection of music and literature.
Performances will take place at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 18 at Universal Preservation Hall and 3 p.m. Sunday, April 19 at Proctors. The orchestra will also unveil its highly anticipated 2026–27 season lineup at the conclusion of each concert.

For this season finale, the SSSO will be joined by Saratoga Voices along with soloists Brittany Palmer and Ann Marie Adamick. Together, they will present a program that pairs powerful poetry with evocative musical settings.
The concert features Florence Price’s “Four Songs from the Weary Blues,” which brings the words of Langston Hughes to life. Ralph Vaughan Williams’ “Towards the Unknown Region” sets text by Walt Whitman in a sweeping, emotional choral work. The program concludes with Felix Mendelssohn’s beloved “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” inspired by the play by William Shakespeare.

Palmer, a soprano known for her versatility in opera and concert repertoire, has performed roles including Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro, La Comtesse Adèle in Le Comte Ory, and Adina in L’Elisir d’Amore. Her concert appearances include soprano solos in St. Matthew Passion, Carmina Burana, the Fauré Requiem, and Haydn’s Lord Nelson Mass, among others.

Adamick, a mezzo-soprano with more than three decades of performance experience, is a frequent collaborator with regional ensembles including the Schenectady Octavo Singers, Saratoga Voices, and the SSSO. Her repertoire spans major choral works such as Handel’s Messiah, Mozart’s Requiem, Bach’s Magnificat, Vivaldi’s Gloria, and Mendelssohn’s Elijah.
Each performance will include a pre-concert talk with Artistic Director and Conductor Glen Cortese —held at 6 p.m. on April 18 at Universal Preservation Hall and 2 p.m. on April 19 at Proctors.
