Old Songs Winter Concerts Warm the Cold Season in Voorheesville

As winter deepens across upstate New York, Old Songs – Music with Roots, continues its long tradition of bringing rich, soulful folk and roots music to the community at the Old Songs Community Arts Center in Voorheesville.

The 2026 winter concert series features an international slate of artists rooted in Celtic, maritime, traditional, and acoustic music and all brought to life in an intimate listening room setting.

Seán Dagher — Sea Shanties, Celtic & World Traditions

Saturday, February 7 @ 7:30 pm

Canadian multi-instrumentalist and singer Seán Dagher opens the winter series with a performance steeped in maritime, Celtic, Baroque, and French-Canadian traditions. Known globally for his “Shanty of the Week” series and interpretations of historic sea songs (including renditions from the Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag soundtrack), Dagher’s show is sure to stir both heart and foot. 

His mastery of the Irish bouzouki, mandolin, oud, banjo, and voice brings centuries-old songs into the present with joy and depth that engages longtime folk fans and newcomers alike. 

Cécilia — Celtic & Québecois Trad Trio

Cécilia is a spirited trio of world-class musicians (Timi Turmel (accordion), Erin Leahy (piano & violin), and Louis Schryer (fiddle)) who weave traditional Celtic and Québecois music with contemporary flair. Their work brings vibrant rhythm and melodic storytelling to dance-worthy reels and poignant ballads alike, drawing on jazz, classical, and swing influences as well. 

Performances by Cécilia are known for their infectious energy and deep connection to tradition, making this Valentine’s weekend concert equally suited for devoted trad fans and anyone looking for joyous musical warmth. 

Curragh — Roots & Acoustic Folk Ensemble

Beppe Gambetta — Transatlantic String Master

Damn Tall Buildings — Original Folk & Roots Energy

Closing out the winter performance slate is Damn Tall Buildings, a celebrated roots band whose music blends traditional influences with original songwriting and robust ensemble interplay. Their style reflects the best of American acoustic traditions — lively, introspective, and full of musical surprises.
