Chuck Lamb and The Dylan Perrillo Orchestra Perform at Putnam Place in January

In Janaury, Caffè Lena and Putnam Place will present a special Jazz at Caffè Lena performance featuring pianist Chuck Lamb with The Dylan Perrillo Orchestra. The Tuesday, January 13 show takes place at Putnam Place, and will feature a full 16-piece orchestra, with reserved seating for all ticket buyers.

This evening of music combines Lamb’s contemporary jazz approach with the Perrillo Orchestra’s focus on early American jazz traditions, offering audiences an opportunity to hear two distinct musical perspectives in conversation.

Holding this show at Putnam Place allows the full orchestra to perform comfortably on a stage built for large-ensemble impact, while also welcoming a bigger audience into the experience. “After our wonderful summer collaboration, Chuck Lamb, Jorge Gomez: Cuban Fusion w/ Ria Curley Nu-Soul-Jazz Collab, we’re delighted to partner with Putnam Place again. Putnam’s space, staff, and spirit truly enhance what we’re able to offer,” said Hannah Stirzaker, Production, Booking & House Manager at Caffe Lena.

Putnam Place CEO Tony Ianniello also shared that he was “glad to partner with Caffè Lena to host this performance. Bringing the full orchestra onto a larger stage opens up possibilities for sound and presentation, and we look forward to welcoming both the musicians and the audience.”

Chuck Lamb has been the pianist for the Brubeck Brothers Quartet for more than 20 years, performing internationally and contributing original compositions influenced by jazz, fusion, classical, and world music. Chuck was also instrumental in establishing Jazz at Caffè Lena and this performance continues the work he and the late Joel Moss set in motion, helping to shape the series and expand regional opportunities for jazz.

The Dylan Perrillo Orchestra, based in Albany, performs arrangements inspired by the music of the 1920s through the 1950s. Their ensemble includes six horns, violin, rhythm section, and vocalist, creating a sound rooted in classic jazz and swing. Audiences can expect an evening that highlights the contrast and connection between Lamb’s exploratory improvisation and the Orchestra’s vibrant, ensemble-driven sound.

Caffè Lena Executive Director Sarah Craig said of the collaborative performance: “Presenting Chuck Lamb with the Dylan Perrillo Orchestra reflects our commitment to offering a range of jazz experiences, from intimate improvisation to large-ensemble arrangements. This concert brings together two groups of musicians who approach the art form from different vantage points, and we’re pleased to give audiences a chance to hear them in the same program.”
