New York City’s own Public Circuit is back with Modern Church, their new full-length album arriving September 12 through À La Carte Records. Alongside the release, the band is kicking off a North American and European tour, including a homecoming show at Brooklyn’s TV Eye.

The electronic post-punk trio consisting of Ethan Biamont, Sean Holloway, and Nelson Fisher, has built a reputation on icy synths, sharp rhythms, and themes that cut deep. The band introduces the album with “Samson,” a haunting track that threads mythology through modern identity. Inspired by the Biblical figure known for losing his strength after his hair is cut. The song uses his story as a way to question traditional ideas of masculinity and explore how gender expression can feel tied to physical appearance.
Biamont shares. “What does it mean to embrace or defy the concepts of masculinity in a world so choked by patriarchal ideals for gender expression and sexuality? Samson loses his hair which is the key to his masculine strength, and I think that when you stray from the binary ideas of gender, it can feel like you need some obvious physical denotion to express that feeling. Cut me free.”
The album, Modern Church, explores themes of lost faith and identity in a chaotic world. It draws from coldwave and post-punk while staying modern and new. Built on sharp synths and steady rhythms, the album captures city life and channels it into something focused, emotional, and new.
