In addition to being a record producer and guitarist with the Jayhawks, John Jackson also oversees The Bon Scott Estate. Scott is most famously known as the late front man for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame band AC/DC. Scott is most known for appearing on five records spanning four years with the band.
As part of the estate, Jackson helps plan and execute a Scott birthday bash each year. This year, the birthday celebration will take place at The Bowery Electric in New York City. The celebration kicks off on Wednesday, July 9th at 7:30 p.m. Members of Living Colour, Trans-Siberian Orchestra and other AC/DC tribute bands are slated to appear.
This year’s show will be the second annual celebration of Scott’s birthday. The show at the Bowery Electric will take place on what would have been Scott’s 79th birthday. Scott originally died at the young at of 33 years old in February of 1980, before the band’s Back in Black recording sessions.
Before the birthday festivities, John Jackson caught up with NYS Music’s Michael Singer to discuss AC/DC, Bon Scott and the upcoming show. Tickets can be purchased HERE.
