World class music returns to The Mill in Westport, NY this summer with exclusive table seating, concert hall acoustics, at the intimate venue.

Located in the rural Adirondack Park, The Mill is the visionary concept of Creative Director Taylor Haskins, who transformed the historic former grain mill into a beacon of arts & culture. Originally constructed in 1952 as the Champlain Valley Seed Cooperative, in 2021 the building was purchased with the intent of restoring it into an extraordinary new home for innovative cultural experiences.
The building houses a curated art exhibition program of world class contemporary art, a speakeasy The Knock, and a cathedral-like performance space.
The 2025 summer concert series will feature an eclectic range of instruments and experimental performances to showcase the full spectrum of music being made at this very moment. Whether revisiting jazz standards, classical pedagogy or presenting new music, these artists all bring innovative ideas through improvisation and new writing.
While not one of these performances will be like the one before, there is certainly a continuous thread. Curator Taylor Haskins weaves a broad range of styles that intersect through exceptional musicianship and experimentation, allowing guests to leave preconceptions about music behind and open up to a unique and transformative listening experience in The Listening Room.
A 2,000 square foot acoustically treated space with 23 foot ceilings and rough-sawn wood paneled walls is the backdrop for a luminous stained glass window designed by renowned painter and public artist Amy Ellingson. Along with the majestic back-illuminated polypropylene sculpture created on site by acclaimed installation artist Stephen Hendee, these two artworks envelop the audience in light and color. The Listening Room exudes concert hall acoustics while creating the feeling of an intimate venue, embraced by the spectacular light of world class site specific artwork.

The Mill’s second season will feature 16 internationally renowned musical artists, curated by Haskins, who began his career as a performing artist at the age of 19 and has since toured the globe and recorded with many legendary musicians such as Maynard Ferguson, Nels Cline, Richard Bona, and Dave Holland, with whom Haskins was awarded a Grammy™ in 2005. Haskins has released 11 albums under his name, and is also an accomplished composer of music for television and film, and since 2020 has hosted The Thread, curating a weekly radio program broadcast on North Country Public Radio (NCPR). Taylor brings his deep knowledge and extensive experience in music to inhabit The Mill’s extraordinary Listening Room with an inspiring progressive musical performance program.

The 2025 summer series begins May 16 at 7:30 pm and continues weekly through September at The Mill. All shows begin at 7:30PM. Price varies per event ($25-$55) – seating is very limited and tickets must be purchased in advance here.
