The Weight Band Plays Tribute to Levon & The Band at Good Nature Brewing

This was a Sunday show you wouldn’t want to miss as The Weight Band regaled a packed outdoor courtyard at Good Nature Brewing in Hamilton, NY with support from Syracuse-based bluegrass band Boot n’ Shorts.

The Weight Band had the audience dancing to all the hits of The Band and Levon Helm Band, as well as paying tribute to the recently passed Dr. John. As members of Levon’s bands, they were true to form with excellent playing, great vocals and a very tight set. Guitarist Jim Weider said, “It’s beautiful up here. Our first time playing Good Nature Brewing. The food and brews were awesome and we definitely want to come back. These are the kind of shows and audiences we love playing for.” The crowd seemed to agree with this, calling them back for an encore and dancing, sharing smiles and each other’s company in the sunshine at this great outdoor venue. After the show, keyboardist/accordian player Brian Mitchell agreed with Weider, “These rolling hills and mountains are what it’s all about. Levon said keep it going. That’s what we set out to do and he would be proud of a show like this. Great folks up here!”

Soundcheck

Boots n’ Shorts kicked off the evening with a stirring set of covers and originals. The band was very tight and one could sense the joy shared by the musicians. The joy spread equally throughout the audience who danced, hooted and hollered and enjoyed each note. If you get a chance, these guys are great entertainers, so try to catch them. Their next performance is at Local 315 Brewing Company, July 13.
