Turkuaz Announces ‘Afterlife Vol. 1 & 2’ and Extended Tour

This past September, Turkuaz released their fifth studio album Life In The City and today have announced the release of Afterlife Vol. 1, with a second installment expected later this summer.

Turkuaz spent 2016-2018 in the studio recording Life In The City, and there was much material leftover to share. Each of the Afterlife EPs will consist of new material, live show favorites and demo versions of familiar songs. Afterlife Vol. 1 includes an original demo of the single “On The Run.” Frontman Dave Brandwein discusses the inception of the project, “The process of making the record truly started back when making demos at my apartment,” he stated. “I was between studios and took it as an opportunity to start writing. I put together the demo for “On the Run” one night while sitting in my room, layering parts on synths and guitars. Determined not to use the drum machine sequence I made, we went to a studio to record Mikey [Carubba]’s drums and some percussion from Nate Werth (Snarky Puppy, Ghost Note).” The experience of creating this record (and now, the pair of EPs) was, as Brandwein puts it, “a process of experimenting and trying different things to see which fit best.”

Turkuaz has a busy schedule this summer including a performance at Red Rocks Amphitheater with Umphrey’s McGee. Other recently added dates include a trip to Japan for a two-night run at Blue Note in Tokyo and an appearance in Australia at Caloundra Music Festival in October. Turkuaz will also be returning to Jam Cruise in 2020. See the full tour schedule below.
