Clearwater Festival Returns This Weekend With Tradition, Big Names, and Familiar Faces

The Clearwater Festival, more formally known as Clearwater’s Great Hudson River Revival, is returning this weekend on June 16 and 17 to Croton Point Park in the lower Hudson Valley with beautiful weather on the horizon.

Started by the late Pete Seeger in the 1960s and formally founded in 1978, the festival continues strong today keeping to its traditional roots while staying relevant to the rock-and-roots music scene.

At the top of the bill are Ani DiFranco, The Mavericks, Langhorne Slim, Jeff Tweedy, They Might Be Giants, Deadgrass, Upstate Rubdown, and Clearwater veterans such as Tom Chapin, Kim & Reggie Harris, and KJ Denhert. There will be a few special sets including a Bob Dylan/Bruce Springsteen tribute and a “Remembering Lead Belly” set in tribute to the great bluesman. Aside from the music, there will be plenty of stories and readings in the folk tradition throughout the grounds, including a reading by Colin Meloy (of The Decemberists) from his book “The Golden Thread: A Song for Pete Seeger.” Check out the full list and stage schedule of performers here.

Aside from a full lineup of music going from 11am until just after sunset the Clearwater Festival features many other attractions. Ranging from family activities, an artisan farm & food market, craft fair to non-profit advocacy and more, the festival is well-rounded for an enriching experience that goes beyond the great lineup of music.
