Dan Tedesco’s ‘Chasing The Lightning’ Tour Makes its Way to Buffalo and Syracuse This Week

Ever wonder what life is like for the independent musicians who come through town? The ones who are not backed by labels, who book their own tours, and do their own promotion? Dan Tedesco made a short documentary about his own life as a working indie musician. Now this singer-songwriter is traveling across the continent screening the film “Chasing The Lightning” and performing acoustic sets. He’ll be in Buffalo at Babeville on Sept. 7 and in Syracuse at Funk ‘n Waffles on Sept. 7. He won’t return to New York again until Nov. 1, when he plays at NYC’s Rockwood Music Hall.

“Chasing The Lightning” was filmed on the road, and includes commentary which offers an intimate glimpse into the life of the solo indie artist. The camera follows Tedesco as starts out from his home in Des Moines, Iowa, and travels from city to city, unloading, playing gigs, loading out and heading to the next town to do it all over again. This humble account not only celebrates the joy of performing live, but also explores the challenges that musicians face when they take to the road to bring music to an audience.

Heavily influenced by Americana and folk traditions, Tedesco’s music also draws on the genres that he’s enjoyed throughout his lifetime. Growing up in Chicago, he started learning several instruments at a young age, and received a musical education in jazz. He just self-released his fourth album, Dan Tedesco II. Digital downloads of his albums and tickets for the tour are available on Tedesco’s website
