Dean Ween Group and The Mike Dillon Band to play the Brooklyn Bowl

On Thursday, January 19, the Dean Ween Group continues their winter tour with a stop at the Brooklyn Bowl, with The Mike Dillon Band supporting.

Mickey Melchiondo’s other band besides Ween is not only a side-project to keep him busy, but rather a creative force that allows him to play a ton of shows per year. He plays with a core group of musicians, but he also leaves the door open to bring in other band-mates as there is not one set in stone line-up. The current line features Dave Dreiwitz, Claude Coleman Jr. and Glenn McClelland. Mickey has said that they have recorded another album or two’s worth of new material, so you can expect a lot of new tunes along with some classics.

The Mike Dillon Band is set to open for Dean Ween Group. The band features an eclectic mix of musicians who help to bring Mike Dillon’s weird freak-punk come to life. With a new album called “Life Is Not a Football” to be released in February, it has been described as sounding like “a Spotted Cat trad band that grew up playing Dead Kennedys and invited Captain Beefheart over for a dinner cooked by Thelonious Monk.”

The show starts Thursday at the Brooklyn Bowl at 8 pm. Advance tickets can be purchased for $22 on the Brooklyn Bowl website, or they will be $25 at the door.
