The 9th Annual Buddhahood and Friends January Thaw is Almost Here

The Buddhahood & Friends 9th Annual January Thaw Tribue Concert for Tony Cavagnaro will be held on Saturday, January 28 at Anthology in Rochester. Doors will open at 7 p.m. Special guests include Extended Family, Bombshell Belly Dance, and MC “Woody” Woodruff, plus many more performers from the local Rochester music scene.

Tony Cavagnaro was a pillar of the Rochester music scene, delighting fans, strangers, and fellow musicians alike, as the lead guitarist and singer of The Buddhahood, right up until his untimely death following an automobile accident in 2007. Since losing Tony, The Buddhahood has continued to write, record, and perform, keeping it toasty for their fans, while also keeping Tony’s memory alive with their annual tribute show.

Janis Milliman of 585 Magazine quotes Buddhahood bassist Rick Whitney about the event, “the annual concert is a celebration of Tony’s life, music, and January birthday. Keeping Tony in our hearts and minds and at the forefront of our spirit as a group has helped keep The Buddhahood alive. Celebrating his musical legacy — and his January birthday — has become an annual tradition.”

This year’s festivities are sponsored by Three Heads Brewing.

Advance tickets are available for $10 Anthology’s website and tickets will be available for $12 at the door. All proceeds from the event will go to the Tony Cavagnaro Young Musicians’ Scholarship Fund to benefit the Hochstein School of Music and Dance.
