Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue Lit the Stage up Through the Rain

As Dan Smalls took to the stage at the Brewery Ommegang and began to introduce the artists for the evening, he lifted his cup to ward off all rain for the evening.  As the first act took to the stage, it was obvious that there would be a storm a brewing of one kind or another, as the night’s opening act was the electric Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue.

Troy “Trombone Shorty” strode on the stage, all smiles, and went right into his opening number, “Fire and Brimstone” setting the pace for the night and getting the crowd instantly on their feet, dancing in the mud as carefree as can be no matter what the weather had in store for them.  As the night went on, although he couldn’t hold the clouds at bay, he certainly brought the sunshine to the stage and despite the pouring rain, it did very little to quench the fire onstage and the enthusiasm of the audience.
