Garcia’s DeadCenter Series Set To Bring San Francisco Sound To Port Chester In April

The tradition of Jerry Garcia and the music of the Grateful Dead continues Wednesdays in April at Garcia’s at The Capitol Theatre, with a touch of the Jefferson Airplane in the mix.

Wednesday April 6: Deadgrass will be returning to the Garcia’s stage. Led by Hudson Valley musician  Matt Turk and Grammy award winner C Lanzbom Deadgrass also welcomes fiddler Clarence Ferrari and bassist Chris Conte to the lineup. If you remember enjoying Yonder Mountain String Band’s version “Shakedown Street” at the Dear Jerry concert, then this collection of traditional bluegrass interpretations of the music Jerry Garcia will hit the mark. Wednesday April 13: From across the Tappan Zee Bridge in Rockland County, Reverend Jefferson will add some San Francisco variety to the DeadCenter mix. A tribute to the Jefferson Airplane, Reverend Jefferson is comprised of musicians with roots in other walks of the the jam band circuit. With three-part vocal harmonies, they have a powerful delivery of the sounds of Jefferson Airplane. Wednesday April 27: A monthly installment of the DeadCenter series brings a Grateful Dead Open Mic Night. This rather unique open mic setting starts with a one hour set by Stella Blue’s Band, open for attendees to join the band on stage. Individual open mic performances run from about 9:30 to 11:30 with another set by Stella Blue’s Band to close the night. Sign-ups are available at the door starting at 6:30.

The DeadCenter events are 21 and over and tickets are $10 (open mic $5). Doors are at 6 with music beginning at 8. Stella Blue’s Band will also be making a full appearance at Garcia’s on April 15.
