Supergroup Reimagines Bill Withers, Limited Appearances

This spring a new supergroup will make its debut with a string of dates, including one stop in New York at the Brooklyn Bowl, to perform the time-honored album Bill Withers – Live At Carnegie Hall from start to finish.

Featuring Corey Glover (Galactic) on vocals, Roosevelt Collier (The Lee Boys) on lap steel/pedal steel, Yonrico Scott (Derek Trucks Band) on percussion, Dave Yoke (Susan Tedeschi Band) on guitar, Jared Stone (Stone’s Stew) on drums and Matt Slocum (Oteil & The Peacemakers) on piano, the New Stew will pay tribute to the legendary soul star and reimagine the influential recording in a live setting four decades after its release.

The album highlights some of the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer’s most popular hits like “Use Me,” “Ain’t No Sunshine” and “Lean On Me.” Withers‘ live record is still ranked by Rolling Stone as number 27 of the 50 Greatest Live Albums of All Time.

In addition, Glover is booked for three upcoming performances in the Empire State, including the Falcon in Marlboro on Feb. 26 and 29 and Joe’s Pub in Manhattan on March 4, while Collier will play the Hollow in Albany on March 9, Iron Works in Buffalo on March 10 and Funk ‘N Waffles in Syracuse on March 11. Scott recently released a new set of songs titled Only A Smile and will make stops at New York City’s Le Poisson Rouge on March 2, the Bay Shore YMCA Boulton Center for Performing Arts on March 8 and the Center for Performing Arts in Homer on March 13 with the Royal Southern Brotherhood.

During their weeklong tour in May, the six-piece collective will appear in Cincinnati, Philadelphia, Annapolis, Brooklyn, Washington D.C., Asheville and Atlanta. Most tickets go on sale Friday, Feb. 26 and are available on the venues’ respective websites. Don’t miss the unique opportunity to see this all-star group perform Withers’ classic live album in its entirety.
