Husband and wife-fronted blues-rock group the Tedeschi Trucks Band announced Monday that they will return to the Oncenter Crouse Hinds Theater this spring.
Based in Jacksonville, Florida, TTB sets out on a several-date tour in support of their third studio album, Let Me Get By (Fantasy), which is scheduled to release this month. In addition to Central New York, the band will play three nights in Washington, D.C. and two nights in Buffalo, plus the prestigious Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, New Orleans’ Jazz Fest and Red Rocks in Colorado.
The 10-track album is a follow-up to 2011’s Grammy-winning Revelator and 2013’s Made Up Mind. A recording of the band’s cover of “Oh! You Pretty Things” (David Bowie) will be on the deluxe edition. As reported in the Chicago Tribune, TTB’s bass player, Tim Lefebvre, played on Bowie’s “Blackstar” record and the bandleaders formed a personal connection with the late musician.
On Jan. 22, the album premiered on “Speakeasy” (Wall Street Journal), and writer Mike Ayers described LMGB as “a mix of rock, soul, blues and jazz, exemplified on the album’s opener ‘Anyhow,’ the horn-infused ‘Right on Time,’ and the soulful ballad ‘Hear Me.'”
Led by vocalist Susan Tedeschi and guitarist Derek Trucks (who were recently featured in the New Yorker), the 12-piece American roots rock band last played at Crouse Hinds in September 2014; this year, TTB rolls through Syracuse on May 10. During their last stop in the Salt City, TTB covered “Keep On Going” (Derek and the Dominos) and “Fire and Rain” (James Taylor). Tickets go on sale this Friday at 10 a.m.
