On Monday, Seattle grunge group Pearl Jam teased a forthcoming big announcement on social media. And yesterday, the band fronted by Eddie Vedder dropped the news of a 22-date, 18-city North American tour. (See the tour reveal video below.)
The tour schedule release added extra buzz around this year’s Bonnaroo lineup (which aired on “Conan” last night), by confirming Pearl Jam as a headlining artist. In addition to the Tennessee music festival, the band will play the New Orleans Jazz Fest, Wrigley Field and Fenway Park, and two nights at Madison Square Garden. The North American tour kicks off in Fort Lauderdale in early April and runs throughout August.
The five-piece rock band — Vedder, Jeff Ament, Matt Cameron, Stone Gossard and Mike McCready — played in New York City during the September 2015 Global Citizen Festival before taking off on a late fall South American tour.
It’s been 25 years since the iconic ’90s band broke into the mainstream with their debut album, Ten, and to date the group has sold nearly 60 million records worldwide. Pearl Jam’s last studio release was 2013’s Grammy-winning Lightning Bolt, featuring the single “Sirens.” Tickets for this tour go on sale Jan. 29.
