Adele Announces Tour With Six-Night Stay in NYC

British pop superstar Adele will tour North America in 2016, the first time in five years, including a six-night gig in New York City.

Adele Live 2016 will support the 27-year-old Grammy winner’s recently released third studio album, 25, which has already sold more than 5 million copies, placing the album in the 5x platinum range in just a few weeks.

Adele will have to shed her fears of stage fright, because she will grace the stage in 23 different cities while performing 56 shows in all. She’ll play multiple shows at most stops along the tour. Cities that will see a lengthy stay by Adele will include the Staples Center in Los Angeles (six), Madison Square Garden in NYC (six), and the Air Canada Centre in Toronto (four).

The tour itself will hit the road and make its first stop at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minnesota, and reach its destination for two-night stay at the Palacio de los Deportes in Mexico City.

In 2011, Adele had to cancel tours as she was diagnosed with benign polyp after a vocal cord hemorrhage which led to laser microsurgery. In 2012 after a brief comeback from surgery, Adele considered leaving music altogether but then decided to take a hiatus from the limelight to “take time and live a little bit” while also raising her son.

During her hiatus, Adele tried to come up with new material, but feared that she lost her ability to write songs as she suffered terrible writer’s block, leading to the rescheduling of recording sessions. She eventually overcame those issues and released 25.

Tickets go on sale Dec. 17, just in time to make the perfect stocking stuffer gift for loved ones who are huge Adele fans.
