Dead and Company Announce Free MSG Show

Dead and Co., featuring John Mayer, have added a third show to the previously announced Oct. 31 and Nov.1 concerts at Madison Square Garden. Thousands of lucky fans will attend the Nov. 7 show for free: The performance is presented by American Express and tickets will only be distributed to winners of a free contest on the band’s website.

Dead and Company features original Grateful Dead members Bob Weir, Bill Kreutzman and Mickey Hart alongside controversial choice John Mayer representing Jerry on lead guitar, Allman Brother bass player Oteil Burbridge, and Ratdog’s Jeff Chimenti on keys.

Deadheads who don’t get tickets will be able to watch a free stream of the event directed by Brett Ratner — well known for several Hollywood movies. Weir commented on the stream to the Associated Press:

“People who want to hear the music get to hear it for free and we get to promote our music and share it with people.”

Dead and Company have a full tour scheduled as well; check the whole itinerary here.
