Grammy Award winner and celebrated composer Arturo O’Farrill will perform with his Jazz Septet for Latin Jazz Night at the Massry Center for the Arts.
His performance will take place on Friday, Oct. 16, and is a part of the 2015-2016 Premiere Performances lineup at The College of Saint Rose in Albany.
O’Farrill established the Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra to bring the musical traditions of Afro Latin jazz to a wider general audience and to greatly expand the contemporary Latin jazz big-band repertoire. Along with the Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra, he has recorded many albums with his smaller groups as well.
O’Farrill’s groundbreaking perspective has won him many Grammys and numerous commissions. His latest album, The Offense of the Drum, recorded with The Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra, won both a 2015 Grammy Award and a Cubadisco Award.
