Ha Ha the Moose Among Phish NYE After-Parties

moe.’s irreverent side project Ha Ha the Moose is one of a stellar lineup of after-shows announced for Phish’s New Year’s Eve run in New York City.

CEG Presents will host a series of shows following Phish’s Dec. 30-Jan. 2 run at Madison Square Garden. In addition to Ha Ha’s show Jan. 2, jazz/jam groovers Snarky Puppy and British funk rockers the New Mastersounds will also share in the groove, and there are still acts to be announced.

Ha Ha, a rare but popular act, consists of moe. guitar player Chuck Garvey, bassist Rob Derhak and percussionist Jim Loughlin taking on their alter egos Jeff Von Kickass, Dr. Guano and Sludge, who usually wear capes and lucha libre masks and say offensive, hilarious things.

The band is supposed to be joined by special guests who have yet to be announced. moe. has a New Year’s run in Albany with shows Dec. 31 and Jan. 1 but no shows announced for Jan. 2.

Ha Ha will play at Irving Plaza Jan. 2, while the New Mastersounds will play pre- and post-shows at the Cutting Room on the same night. There will also be a James Brown Dance Party, billed as the funkiest All Star tribute act in show business, at B.B. King Blues Club and Grille that evening featuring a variety of musicians.

Snarky Puppy will play an after-party at Irving Plaza on Jan. 1, and there will also be a Dead Sessions show at Highline Ballroom that night.
