In 1971 Dave Reed, John Rider, and Bob Gosselin started a country music band named Max Creek. Within a year or so they added young prodigy guitarist Scott Murawski and their sound changed to a more psychedelic bluesy Grateful Dead like genre. 43 years later – despite multiple lineup changes over the years – Creek still tours extensively with John and Scott still on board.
Creek will return to Rochester tomorrow Nov 21 at The Montage Music Hall. The band appears to have found a new home in ROC-city at Montage – appearing at the venue for the second time in a year. Montage has been offering a wonderfully varied calender of events and has started to attract the local jam crowd in force – offering ample free parking, respectful security and staff – and recently some excellent local Three Heads Brewing beer at reasonable prices. Phil-in Friends featuring John and Casey Bloom will open. Tickets are available online until tomorrow for 15$. 18$ at the door. 18+ doors at 9.
Eastern NY will get it’s own chance to catch The Creek Saturday at The Hollow. Get pre-sale tickets here for 15$ or pay 20$ at the door.
