Wilco announced a two night stand at The Capitol Theatre for October 28th and October 29th. The band who put on their own festival every other year have had a quieter touring year in 2014. Frontman Jeff Tweedy has been readying a solo album with his son and is going on tour to support it, but had promised fans that Wilco would be playing some shows this year. As of now, these two shows are the final ones scheduled for the year. The shows are being billed as “an evening with”, so these are definitely not to miss intimate affairs with a great band. The band is also celebrating their 20th anniversary this fall, a huge milestone. These shows are sure to have a little extra power to them if the band is in a celebratory mood.
The two nights have even more meaning as The Capitol Theatre and Ticketfly are teaming up to support HeadCount’s #GoVote campaign. A portion of all ticket sales from these shows will be donated to the organization to help drive voter turnout for the mid-term elections this November. Andy Bernstein, HeadCount’s Executive Director said “This will make a huge difference as we gear up for the elections in November. We are running a big get out the vote initiative in the next two months. And every dollar translates into more people at the polls.”
Tickets go on sale through the Capitol Theatre’s website on Friday September 5th at Noon.
