Worsnop Back in Asking Alexandria, Stoff Responds After Going AWOL

Danny Worsnop has laid the rest the recent rumors that he was returning to where it all started, in Asking Alexandria. In a recent social media post, Worsnop stated that he is indeed returning to where many fans feel he belongs, back in Asking Alexandria. Worsnop will join the band on their upcoming 10 Years In The Black Tour, which kicks off in Seattle on Oct. 25.

Worsnop is staying busy these days, as he is set to release his solo album The Long Road Home, while also fronting his band, We Are Harlot, who is currently working on its second studio album.

Worsnop left Asking Alexandria in January of 2015 to focus more on We Are Harlot. At the time, and feeling blindsided by the move, guitarist Ben Bruce stated that he felt abandoned long before Worsnop decided to leave. Bruce went on to say that Worsnop lost the care for screaming and heavier music since the release of their second album, and didn’t think he could call him a friend anymore.

Worsnop’s social media post shared a video clip of Asking Alexandria playing in the background, focused on a close up of a microphone. The microphone is then picked up by Worsnop’s hand. The video had the following statement attached:

As none, some, most, or all of you have seen, the last week has been what one would refer to as “eventful.” Rumors and speculation of recent events have circulated long before even their inception but in an ironic twist of fate or foresight have come to fruition.

Two weeks ago I was approached with a question, that as to if I would consider touring with my former band, Asking Alexandria for their upcoming tour “10 Years In The Black.” Now, keep in mind that outside occasional “Hey man, how’ve you been?” texts, Ben Bruce and I hadn’t spoken since my departure, and the rest of the band, not at all. It was a long week pondering the decision and figuring out what the right thing to do was. After all, my album ‘The Long Road Home’ is about to release, which is of course my primary focus, I’m working on the new We Are Harlot record, and trying to book in as much acting work as possible.

Eventually the pivotal hour came about and it was time to make a decision. I took this last year off from playing and touring to find myself (pretentious) and re-evaluate my life (cliche), which I NAILED (badass). So, now, after almost two years, I shall be going on tour again with Asking Alexandria. We have spent the last week honing the show and the set to be the best it can be, and best it has ever been, and I hope y’all enjoy watching it as much as we have creating it. It is a journey through the band’s history and maybe even a new song that isn’t actually very new but is new but isn’t new at all. I’m now in a place mentally where this is something I can embrace again, with the men I started this crazy journey with.

It’s a beautiful nostalgia that feels like nothing ever changed. Whatever happened with Asking Alexandria and Denis Shaforostov is between them, and for them to tell. All I can speak to is my excitement to be working with my old and dear friends, playing music we made for a decade that we are here to celebrate. Stay beautiful, sleazy, and never too sober. -D

With Stoff’s sudden departure from the band, Bruce posted a Facebook Live video on the band’s social media page. Bruce stated that Worsnop was back in the band, then went on to say that Stoff just stopped responding to text messages and emails from him and the band. He stated that there was no “beef” between anyone and stated that the last year and a half with Stoff was great, even recording the band’s fourth studio album The Black, with him to go along with a tour to help support. Bruce also said he was warned about Stoff, but wanted to give him a chance because that was in Stoff’s past and that everyone deserves another chance.

New Yorkers can catch the 10 Years In The Black, tour on Nov. 14 at Webster Hall in NYC, and Nov. 15 at Upstate Concert Hall in Clifton Park. The tour will also feature Born of Osiris, I See Stars, After The Burial, Upon A Burning Body and Bad Omens.

Stoff has finally responded about his departure by tweeting Sumerian Records CEO Ash Avildsen, and stated that he left AA because he can’t be part of  a touring band at this point in his life and that there was no drama between bandmates.
