Aqueous Announces Fall Tour Dates, New Drummer

Buffalo’s pre-eminent groove rock band, Aqueous, has announced dates for its “Random Company” Tour this fall. Today they share the stage with Turkuaz for a free show in Rochester, NY at the summer concert series “Bands on the Bricks 2016.”

The tour spans across the country, hitting late-summer festivals such as, Shadefest in Avenue, Maryland this Saturday; the Peach Festival next weekend for the third year in a row; the Night Lights Festival, where they will headline all three nights; and Catskill Chill in late September.

Aqueous is back at the 8×10 in Baltimore, MD for a split August residency with Deaf Scene. This past Wednesday, they shared the stage with Broccoli Samurai and Litz. Their set was game show themed, with classics like “Super Mario Bros. Theme,” “Donkey King Theme” and “Pokemon Theme Song.” Their next themes will include a moe.-themed night on Aug. 17, with guests Squaring the Circle and Optimus Riff, and Red Hot Chili Peppers-themed show on Aug. 31 with Deaf Scene and Bond & Bentley.

This fall, Aqueous shares the stage with some grand artists, including Twiddle, Everyone Orchestra, The Werks and Perpetual Groove.

Aqueous also announced the addition of permanent drummer Rob Houk, in advance of this tour.  Houk has been performing with the band for the past five months and was officially offered and accepted the full-time position in June. The Cincinnati-based drummer, who plans to relocate to Buffalo soon, cites many influences to his drumming style, including Keith Moon, John Bonham and Neal Peart, along with more contemporary percussionists as Jon Fishman, Carter Beaufort and Kris Myers.

Houk’s reaction to being permanently named as the band’s drummer:

I couldn’t be more excited for the future. These guys put in so much hard work over the past ten years. I’m really lucky to be able to join them on this adventure. With the great attitude and effort these guys all put forth they really push me to be a better musician.
