This month, indie-rock artist Alejandro Meola will route his way through Upstate New York. Touring in support of his latest release, First Impressions, Meola is booked for a May 13 show at Starry Nites Café in Rochester.
Born in Miami, the songwriter and guitarist moved to New York City from Buenos Aries after recording two Spanish-language albums. First Impressions is Meola’s debut collection of English-language songs, and the 25-minute EP, backed by his band Robinsones, is a radio-ready mix of rock, blues and reggae sounds.
During this mini East Coast run, the Argentinian musician is scheduled to play in Boston, Baltimore, Stamford, Connecticut, and Washington, D.C. before closing his spring tour at Leftfield in New York City on June 10. This several-date string marks the first time Meola treks out of the Big Apple to share his music with new audiences. In the tour announcement press release, Meola stated:
I’m excited. I’ve been playing solely in Manhattan and Brooklyn for the last couple of years and this seems a reasonable next step to take, glad the opportunity came along. It’s a chance to begin introducing myself and the songs to a different set of ears.”
