Drake Adds NY Dates to Summer Tour

Multi-platinum-selling hip-hop star Drake has added dates to his upcoming Summer Sixteen Tour, with fellow hip-hop artist Future. The Live Nation-sponsored tour will grace the stage at Buffalo’s First Niagara Center on Aug. 12, and also feature special guest Roy Woods and DVSN.

The Grammy Award winner will tour in support of his fourth studio album, View. The album’s lead single, “Hotline Bling,” is certified multi-platinum, reaching No. 1 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip Hop Songs and Billboard Rhythmic charts, and No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100. Drake’s two current singles “One Dance” and “Pop Style” are currently No. 1 and No. 3 on the Billboard R&B/Hip Hop Digital Songs chart. The single “Pop Style” features Kanye West and Jay-Z as the rap duo the Throne. View will be released April 29.

Ticket prices for the First Niagara Center will run $149, $99.50, $69.50 and $49.50. Fans on the other side of the Empire State can catch Drake for a three-day stay in New York City at Madison Square Garden Aug. 4 to 6.

Drake first started in the limelight as an actor. He played Jimmy Brooks on the television series “Degrassi: The Next Generation.” His musical career soon took off after Drake released the mixtapes Room For Improvement and Comeback Season in 2006-07.

After the release of his mixtapes, and the EP So Far Gone, Drake released his first studio album, Thank Me Later. The album debuted at No. 1 on the U.S. Billboard 200 and is certified Platinum by the RIAA. Drake’s second studio album, Take Care, is certified double Platinum and won the rapper his first Grammy Award for Best Rap Album.
