The New Mastersounds and Kung Fu announce two shows in NY

It looks like the western half of New York is in for a funky treat later this spring. Two shows have been announced, each featuring two of the most high-energy and talented funk-fusion groups touring right now.

Kung Fu and critically acclaimed The New Mastersounds will co-headline at the Buffalo Iron Works in Buffalo, NY on Tuesday, May 31 and again at the Anthology in Rochester, NY on Saturday, June 4. They will also play two shows in Pennsylvania June 1 and 2.

The New Mastersounds is a four-piece originally hailing from the U.K. You can’t help but boogie down to this jazz-inspired funk group. They will release “The Nashville Session” on April 22, a stripped down recording of a single studio session of ten songs from their 16 albums.

Kung Fu – the number one requested group at the Rochester Revival in March – adds electronica and horns to their funk infused repertoire. The group is known for rocking jams into classic funk throw downs. On the heels of the release of their latest album, Joyride, these guys are sure to get you grooving.

Buffalo Iron Works is on a roll in the funk department, having recently welcomed Turkuaz, the Nth Power, After Funk and Imperial Brown, along with countless others.  In contrast, Anthology’s website indicates this is one of only two shows currently scheduled for the entire month of June, funk or otherwise. Rochester natives won’t want to miss this!

Tickets for all shows are available on each venue’s website found below. They range from $17 to $22.
