Made up of indie rockers from the Love Language, Bitter Resolve and Grohg, the psych-rock band SOON recently confirmed a list of dates that would bring the group to northeast venues. The doom metal-quartet booked upcoming live shows in Albany and Philadelphia before heading south this March and April.
Touring in support of their Vol. 1 debut released earlier this month on Temple Of Torturous records, SOON — Stuart McLamb (guitar, vocals), Thomas Simpson (drums, vocals), Robert Walsh (bass, vocals) and Mark Connor (guitar, vocals) — kicked off a 10-date run in Baltimore on March 16 and made a stop in Brooklyn the following evening for a show at Legion. The band is booked to rock The Low Beat in Albany this Saturday at 8 p.m.
The Chapel Hill, North Carolina-based band’s latest effort is noted for expertly balancing mettle and melody throughout the eight-song LP, according to the official press release. Grayson Haver Currin wrote in a review for Indy Week that “when SOON lets McLamb’s preternatural ease with melody guide these songs, the band ensnares its audience with a trap built with high volume and set with a winning refrain… For seven of these eight songs, that’s exactly what they do… All these tunes use the hook as the ballast; they’re so strong you could imagine many of them recast by a rock band.”
Tickets for all shows are on sale now; stay tuned for additional show announcements to come in the following weeks.
