On December 16, Black Mountain Symphony brought their unclassified mixture of blues, folk, and jazz to Funk N Waffles downtown for the second evening of NYSMusic Nights in Syracuse. This group of composers consists of Anna Campo (Vocals, Violin), Bear Campo (Keys, Vocals), Orion Kribs (Guitar, Mandolin, Vocals), Jason Matthews (Drums), C. Rollz “Wyclef” Peppe (Bass), and Charlie Burgess (Vocals, Guitar, Native American flute).
The solo acoustic support was handled by the Syracuse local, swift-singing, six-string playing Steve Scuteri.
On December 23, Albany-based Ampevene revved up the downtown Syracuse hot-spot with their original, psychedelic rock stew. A particular highlight of the evening was a cover of “Have a Cigar” by Pink Floyd. This quartet of artists consists of Gabe Stallman (Vocals, Guitar), Mack Hogan (Bass), Ava Smith (Keys), and Bob Morris (Drums).
Chris Eves and friends ripped up the rug with their mix of southern, funky pop-rock. The trio of Salt City local players consisting of Chris Eves (Guitar, vocals), John Jones (Bass) and Sean Benz (Drums) gracefully took the stage and opened the curtains for Ampevene.
NYSMusic Nights wraps up this Wednesday evening (12/30) at Funk N Waffles Downtown with Grayak w/s/g Michelle Renee. The show starts at 8pm and is $10 at the door.
