First off, they accepted a Lifetime Achievement Award for Songwriting from the Americana Music Association. The award was presented at the association’s 2015 Honors & Awards ceremony on Wednesday at the historic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, which will be broadcast later this year on PBS. Read Robyn Hitchcock’s incredible introduction to Dave and Gillian in full below (shared from Dave Rawlings Machine’s Facebook page).

They also released their new album, Nashville Obsolete, under the David Rawlings Machine moniker. Released today on Acony Records, it comprises seven compositions and, in addition to Rawlings and Welch, features the talents of Paul Kowert of the Punch Brothers on bass and label mate Willie Watson on vocals and guitar. It also includes guest appearances from Brittany Haas on fiddle and Jordan Tice on mandolin.

As if that weren’t enough to carry them through the week, they’ve also announced a fall tour that will span the country. All tickets went on sale today as well, so it was a big week for the couple! With stops in Buffalo, Ithaca, Albany and New York, fans in New York state will have multiple chances to catch the duo in action.
